Southern Where Memories Are Made...
I was very proud at the outcome of my video. This time around I believe I did a way better job than my last video. On my last video I did not have the right equipment to produce such a professionally edited video. In my last video I mostly had words and barley any videos and no pictures. I felt like it was hard to remain interested in my last video because it was so plain. Even though I had music playing in the background it was still hard to keep the viewer’s attention. In the video that I just created, I believe that I did a great job using creativity and the tools given to me by the software. I have a lot of pictures and videos that help support my topic. I believe that there are no weaknesses in my video reason being I have done so much better this time around then I did the last time. This does not compare to my last video at all this one is ten times better, quality wise. I hope that all my viewers enjoy and understand my message that I am trying to convey through this video. I put a lot of time and effort and creating this and I actually believe that it is something that will lead me to have a good grade. With that said going forward I will make sure that I follow the steps that I took this time around so that I can feel as good as I did now. I feel very accomplished about this video, and I hope that all my hard work pays off and people enjoy my video as much as I enjoy it.

I Love Southern!
Today was the last away game for
the football team, against UNH. It was a sad game unfortunately we lost
terribly, but the Owls were able to hold their heads up high and fight till the
very last second. Traveling to the campus of UNH was an experience in its self.
I never knew how big their campus was. It made me appreciate our Southern
campus so much more. Reason being is that our campus is not too big and not too
small, it’s just right. I’ve also noticed we have a lot more diversity in our
campus compared to UNH which is a great thing to see every day. With that being
said it was a great adventuring around another campus so that I could be so much
more grateful of my own.

Progress Report

Overall for my midterm grades I was
very pleased. There were maybe two classes that could have been better there is
still room to improve for the second half of the semester. If these grades that were received were my
final grade my GPA would be at around a 3.0. I would be very pleased with that
because, the only subject that I am truly struggling with is math. Math is a
subject that is just naturally hard for me to understand. I have realized that
some people are good at things and others are not and that is what I am
learning with math. I have taken algebra for years now and I am still having
problems. I had come to the conclusion that I will decided not to take math courses
at the university and take them at a community college. I cant say that I am
satisfied with the grade received in math. But I can say that I have worked so
hard to achieve the grade I have now. I have put in so much time and effort
with math that I study over the weekend for 3 hours. If I can study hard and
still not pull out with a good grade I know I am trying my hardest and busting
my butt to at least try and succeed in the class.

Hey Wintergreen!
When coming to the Wintergreen building there are lots of
things running through a person’s mind. Usually coming here means you’re here to
pay a bill, talk to financial aid, go to the registrar’s office, or meet with
an academic adviser. Sometimes meeting with these people can cause stress for a
person and make them very nervous or uneasy about what may happen inside.
Wintergreen inside is filled with colors. I believe this is so that it helps
relax students when they come in here to take care of whatever business they
may have. If you were to walk into a building where the walls were all white,
that person may not be at ease going to take care of business. Wintergreen is a
very non intimidating environment take the figures sculpted on the ceiling for instance
these swigglely shape figures are colored with relaxing blues, purple, and a
lighter blue to help relax a student’s mind when coming in. if it wasn’t for
these sculptures I don’t believe wintergreen would be a great place to get everything
done that you would like to get done peacefully. I wish that there were a bit
more color in the building because it doesn’t give off a happy place it just
shows that it’s a relaxing environment. I also wish there were more sculptures
and figures on the ground so it is more visible for people to see at first
glance. With these suggestions Wintergreen could really be a place everyone
would have no problem coming to. I enjoy it there because I can escape and do
my homework there and not be bothered. It’s the perfect place it’s not too loud
and it’s not too quiet. For those who do not know where Wintergreen is located
it is right on Wintergreen Ave, New Haven, next to Moore Field House and across
from the health center.

MIDTERMS!!!
Looking
back on the first portion of the semester, I can honestly say I tried my
hardest on every assignment and exam. Before school started I told myself that
I will stay organized and on top of my assignments. So far I have been very
pleased with the effort I have been putting in. The workload here in college is
a lot different than the average high school workload. I am so used to having
one to two hours of homework or studying. Now I have an average of three to
four hours of work to complete each night.
My
biggest fear coming to this university was how was I going to do balancing my
extracurricular activities with my academics. Keeping things organized in my
life was something I have always struggled with. So I knew doing so here would
be hard too. By really being hard on myself and making sure I was on top of
doing what I was supposed to do. I would say I have overcome that struggle I
was having. I will be honest in saying that I did have set backs where I would
slack off and wait till the last minute to do things. But I quickly realized by
doing so I was loaded with other tasks at the same time and I was left with trying
to figure out how to finish everything on time.
For the
rest of the semester I am going to keep up with being organized but I am going to
make sure that this time I don’t have any setbacks. If I can stay on top of my
work and prioritize everything going on in my life I can have a successful rest
of the year. I know it is not going to be easy but with hard work and
determination I will be very successful.

Reducing Stress..
Luckily I have not been assigned
any midterms. I have just received a lot of homework within these last few
weeks. I have been super overwhelmed with this workload, but I have found a
solution to relieve some stress.
In efforts in trying to find
something to do, I had took a look onto the schools website to check what
activities were going on that can possibly take my mind off of some of my work.
During a successful search I have found that there are many athletic events
going on throughout the week. I decided to take a trip to one of the men soccer
games. It was something I had began to look forward to considering I had been
studying and doing homework for the past few days. I was beginning to go stir
crazy.
Walking over to the game from the
dorms you can see the lights from the stadium. It was so bright that you can
see the flies fly in front of the lights. Arriving at the gate, you can see the
field glowing making you squint at first glance. I was now officially excited
and I could feel myself begin to relax. As I found my seat on the bleachers,
the players took the field to warm up. I began to size up the other team trying
to predict if our team can take them. Something told me this will be a good
game.
After a million oohh’s and ahhh’s
Southern came out with the win. And the crowd went crazy. Everyone was so
excited and happy that we won. The players on the field jumped up and down with
excitement. It was definitely a good way for me to take my mind of my homework.
For future references whenever I am to the point of being over stressed from
homework , looking for school activities to watch or join will make my stress
level decrease greatly.
