Learning New Tips

Now that we are a few weeks into my first semester as a freshmen here at Southern, I have picked up a lot of tips along the way to keep me on track and organized. I have noticed that there are many distractions here. Between the activities that the school provides, the extracurricular activities like sports or clubs, and then of course the parties; it is very easy to get side tracked. There is always someone in your ear trying to make you stray away from your goal.
I’m not going to lie at first I was the most organized person you could have ever met. But as the days of school progressed and I started to realize what the campus of Southern had to offer and I was instantly taken off my path. I started to involve myself into more activities the school had to offer instead of doing what I needed to do to be successful academically. I began waiting till the last minute to do my homework, whereas I used to do my home early so I didn’t have to worry about it when it came closer to the due date. I also began forgetting assignments and falling behind on work. I can’t even blame it on partying because I’m not that type of person; I just had spread myself too thin.
I quickly learned my lesson and began to get my work and college life on track. Some tips I picked on the way were, to always at least start or complete homework that is assigned early. Reason being is because if something comes up last minute it will be easier to handle considering you finished most of your work. Second I learned that being organized is key when it comes to staying on track. Make sure to keep a planner at all times and to follow up with your syllabus so that your always up to date with assignments.
