Turning Negatives into Positives

Being bullied is something no one should take lightly. I have learned so much about myself because of it. I have learned that I am the type of person who waits to the last minute to say something. Because of that I make sure if there is something that I do not like that is going on I speak on the situation instantly so that it does not progress into something much worse. I found that people tend to take advantage of others who don’t speak up for themselves and I refuse to fall into that category. Speaking up is and has been a huge step for me because I have always been the type to sit back and be very quiet.
Not everyone is going to want to be your friend. Unfortunately that’s the way life goes. But I learned to not let that affect me. Bullies usually feed off of people who are the weakest. So if I seem unaffected I will have no problem. In college there are numerous of people from all over with different personalities. Some personalities I will be able to get along with and others I won’t be able to. It’s how I go about handling myself around them. If I treat people who I don’t get along with bad then I would not be able to survive through college, or better yet the real world. Even though I don’t get along with someone I can always at least say hi and be cordial with them. Keeping animosity around is never good and can lead to bad things.
I tend to have a fun four years here at Southern and by following what I have learned throughout the years of being bullied. I can have a successfully fun time. People are going to come and go throughout my life but the key is to keep going and have fun.
