Coming to
Southern has to be one of the greatest experience so far in my life. I have met
so many amazing people that were very welcoming and nice. I do have to admit
that I was confronted with party temptations. Reluctantly I did attend the
Welcome Weekend festivities. I went to the “YOLO” dance party, and had so much
fun. It gave me a taste of what Southern has to offer, without having to get
drunk and be irresponsible. It was hard
trying to balance creating a social life and maintain my educational career.
But i met a lot of great people so far. Being a commuter, i stay at the dorms
more than i go home! there's There was always someone in my ear telling me to
either come and party or sit down and study with him or her.
Sitting
here a week later I can honestly say that I have became more responsible with
my actions. I go to class on time and
everyday, and I make sure that I get my homework done before I go out. While
everyone is out partying and having fun on this holiday weekend, I am here
making sure that all my homework is done and ready to be presented in class on
Tuesday. I want to be able to succeed here at school. When applying to
Southern, I knew that I was going to be challenged in more ways than one. I
have never been the best student, so I felt the pressure to be better and do
better.
Hopefully
I can stay on track and continue putting my education first, and then party
later. If I do all my homework at a reasonable time, or whenever I get back
from classes, I will have enough time to go out and see my friends. Hopefully,
all my friends will respect the fact that I need to fit my studies in just as
they do, and I will do anything I can to help them with theirs. My first week
is over, but there are many more interesting times to come.
