Looking through all of the freshmen blogs one that I was
able to relate to the most was by Alyson Battista. Her blogs are well written
and I feel like they speak to the college age crowd. They are easy to relate to
and keep the read intrigued as to what she has to say.
The
blog that really kept my attention that she had written was called One Big
Happy Family. It was about the Convocation Ceremony for the class of 2016. It
was a ceremony where it welcomed all of the incoming freshmen with a big gathering,
almost like a graduation, but the complete opposite. During the ceremony they
spoke about how important our class is to Southern. Also they spoke about us as
a class being a strong force to do whatever it is that we want to do. All in
all it was a very nice ceremony and it was a great welcome from some of the
staff that participated in it.
In
Alyson’s blog she did a great job writing about what happened in the ceremony,
in a way where others our age can identify and enjoy her writing. I enjoyed the
way that she used comparisons to Legally Blonde and Harry Potter. I had a
similar comparison to her except mine was Harry Potter and the Dead Poets
Society. Her summary of what took place did not drag on or ramble about random
things. It was short and straight to the point but just in way where young
adults can relate to what she is saying.
Grading
Alyson’s blog I would give her an `A’. All of her blogs are relatable and she
is great at explaining her point without making her readers loose interest in what
she’s writing about. And that is a key quality to have in a blogger because
that is how you keep an audience.
